Let them eat cake..

Here are some of my favorite cake creations.  I just started getting into cake decorating over the last two years, and I am not a professional. So, please don't expect any amazingly perfect cakes. And you can go ahead and ignore the amateur photographs as well, since most of them were snapped only seconds before they were devoured... Unfortunately I don't have much room to take pretty pictures, so it will probably be awhile before they start looking professional.

This was one of my first cakes. Actually it isn't even cake.. It's a giant Fruity Pebble treat (like a Rice Krispie treat, but made with Fruity Pebbles. YUM!). This was for my boyfriend's 21st birthday. And yes we did go to the casino and lost lots of money :(

Okay whoever thought of putting cake on a stick was a genius! I had my first cake pop about two and a half years ago during Relay for Life. It was sooo good!! Of course the next day, I searched for the recipe, which I found to be surprisingly easy. Although my first attempt did not look very pretty, they were absolutely delicious!

And I had become addicted.. I started making them all the time.  I even made some cake truffles for Mother's Day.

I have tried so many different cake and frosting combinations. Last fall, I made some with a pumpkin cake and cream cheese frosting that tasted just like pumpkin pie. I am thinking about making them again this year. If I do, I will try to post the recipe. Anyway, here are some rainbow ones I made for my birthday this year that were a huge hit!

These last two cakes are probably the best cakes I have ever made, considering they were two of the most recent cakes I've made. My boyfriend loves candy so I made him a candy cake for his birthday this year. I decided on a Wonka style cake and only used Wonka brand candy to decorate (well except for the lollipops). This is the largest cake I have made so far

This Tangled Rapunzel cake for my boyfriend's cousin was my first attempt using fondant. I was really surprised how great it turned out! I always thought fondant would be hard to make and use, so I never even thought about trying it. But, thank you Pinterest addition!! I found an amazing marshmallow fondant recipe from The Chaplain's Wife that didn't sound too hard. Well I loved how easy it was and how delicious it tasted. I don't think I will be making another cake without it.

Well that's all I have for today. I still have several other creations I plan post later. Feel free to pin or share my pictures, just please give me credit. I would also love to hear about anyone else's experiences with baking or decorating, and I am always open to suggestions.  ☮ & ♥

My First Post!

I have can't believe I started my own blog! I have been following several teacher and baker blogs for a couple years now, and I finally decided to start my own. There blog isn't about anything in particular, just my life in general for now, which includes, backing, crafts, education, and anything else I feel like posting. Enjoy! ☮&♥
